How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3884039 / WH13X10023 Water Inlet Valve

At some point the thread for the hot water line was damaged and would leak if the machine ran a warm or hot wash. I tried to cut the thread back to remove the damage but it was just slightly too short to seal. I ordered the valve and had it overnighted, as the washer had already been out of service while I replaced the door seal. Unplugged the machine, turned off the water and disconnected the hoses, removed the top and replaced the valve. Very easy repair, my only mistake was not wearing gloves so I cut a finger when I pulled the water hose off the valve - the inside of the frame is sharp. The wires connecting to the valves can't be mixed up on my machine, the harness won't allow it unless you've cut the wire ties. I still took a picture on the phone though, just in case. 

Tested pump and found there was no current passing through the hot water side. T08 diag also revealed no valve activity. Pulled out the old valve and in installed the new one. Hot and cold now work. Easy install. 

The repair guy came out, i told him that it was probably the water inlet solenoid as i could hear the door lock, no water would come into the washing chamber and then the washer would time out. He checked continuity on the solenoid and said" yep, it'll be $303 dollars for me to replace it. I said ' can i just pay your service fee' and he said 'sure $59 bucks'. I ordered the ~50 part, ordered for next day shipping. Upon receipt, i inscrewed the 6 screws to get the lid off and found the valve. I disconnected and installed the valve with 4 electrical prong, 1 screw holding the assy in place and a clamp to hold the water discharge in place. Total time - about 10 minutes. I reassembled- good to go. Savings $180 bucks. Thanks appliance parts pros! 

We ran the tests that the site recommended and any troubleshooting steps it recommended. When we determined that it wasn't our water supply or clogged hose filter, we ordered the water inlet valve. It arrived in 2 days and the installation took about 10 minutes. Now our washer works. Thank you so much for your site as it saved us at least $150 in labor and who knows how much they would have jacked up the price of the part. 

Swapped out the inlet valve after seeing the E22 error. Washer works like a champ again. Loads are done faster and clothes seem to rinse better thanks to the new part. 

I ordered a new one from your website.. Once it was installed, washer works perfectly. It was an easy fix and part was a perfect fit. 

Order the part and install. I got the part in two days. I had been waiting a week from a local vendor. And it cost less! 

The only component of the washer that could be causing the drip was the water valve. First turn off the water at the wall and unplug the power cord. We have a GE Profile front load washer so to access the values you take the water hoses loose from the back, remove the three screws along the top of the back of the washer and slide the whole top back about an inch and a half to unlock it. The top can be lifted off and placed aside. The water valve is at the top, on the left side of the back of the washer cabinet. Remove the four clips from the wiring harness by pulling each clip straight off the water value contacts. Use pliers to squeeze the clamp on the small water line coming off the values on the left, and work the clamp back off the enlarged part of the inside water hose. Pull the hose free of the vales, working it back and forth if it is tight. One screw on the back of the washer holds the value body in place so remove that and the old valve is free. Reverse the process to put the new value in place. 

My wife shut the water off, when she noticed it was still running after doing a load of laundry. She gave me (her husband) the details of what happened. At first I wasn't sure what the problem was, but had to be a faulty valve somewhere. 6 screws later the top of the washing machine was off. I located the water valve where the outside water connection was made and removed it. (2 clamps, one screw & 4 wires) I blew through the cold and hot water sides and the cold blew straight through. The problem found, ordered part and 3 days later had the washing machine back up and running. Cheers, Jay 

I removed the water valve from the washer and had the local appliance store check it. They said the valve checked out ok so I had them send out a repairman. He spent a few minutes and decided the valve was faulty. I went on line and ordered a new valve, installed it and the washer works fine. Bottom line when checking the valve the solenoid worked but the actual valve wasn't opening.
