How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP5677091 / AKC72949316 Ice Bucket Assembly

I ordered a replacement ice storage caddy. fast shipping and delivery. Shipped on a Monday and received it on Wednesday. The replacement part was an exact replacement and it works perfectly! 

Call Sears, gave the Make, Model info, couldn't determine the part I needed, on hold for a while, then told me the part was $ 250.00! Went to the Appliance Parts Pros.com site, found the necessary part, quickly, even told me it was comparable, shipped and received in two (2) days. Price - $ 83.00! Wow! I'm very pleased, and you will too! 

Ordered the Ice Bucket Assembly, then put it in. Pretty easy stuff. 

Replacing the old Ice Bucket helped since the old one was broken due to ice build-up. The cap assembly was a challenge. 15-year-old fridge wasn't very forgiving trying to get to the problem part. So my son was able to skip the instructions to open everything up to get to the cap assembly. He created a tool from a paint can opener. The opener was able to pry off the cap from its plastic arm and easily snap in the new cap. It was a clever way to get at the problem without destroying the facing panel with all the electronic push buttons. The ice maker is now functioning as it should. 

Found the model number of the refrigerator and did a search on what was available on your site. Found both items. Although the spring I had to order twice (Two part numbers), couldn't figure out which one I needed. 

Replaced it 

Bought this replacement unit which slides right in. Unfortunately, this is only sold as a unit, so replacing individual parts is out of the question. 

Replaced with a new Ice Bucket Asy. 

Bought new ice bib.
