A bit of web searching led me to a discussion group where a repair tech was telling people that the original design of the lint filter and cover was bad and that a replacement kit had been devised. The kit consisted of 3 parts including this one. Once all the parts arrived it was a simple matter to remove the existing parts and replace them. The fit of these new parts is much more precise which doesn't allow for the clothes to catch on the corner as they go round and round.
