James W Bayonne , NJ October 05, 2021 Appliance: LG Microwave Oven LMV1680ST Microwave turntable not moving and unit not heating at same time. I looked online for solutions as to why my turntable was not working and microwave not heating at the same time. If the motor for the turntable was not working then it should have still been heating and it wasn't. Online sources indicated a bad switch in the door. Initially, I thought I would have to remove the entire unit from over my stove. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. I found a video on youtube, that showed how I could access the switches from the front of the unit. I used a Philips screw driver and loosened about 6 to 8 screws and I had access to the switches. I noticed that one of the switches was slightly melted. Probably due to opening the door mid-cooking and not hitting the stop button first. ALWAYS HIT STOP BEFORE OPENING YOUR MICRO DOOR! I did struggle pulling the wire harness off the switch due to the melting. I was going to replace all three switches at once but decided not to. The other extra switches I ordered I taped to the inside cavity of the micro for future use. I tested the switch with a voltmeter and saw that it was shorted out. I changed the switch and voila! My micro was up and running again. As always, unplug the microwave and be careful as some electronic components could still hold a charge even after being unplugged. Read More... Glenn P Mcville , ND January 24, 2021 Appliance: Model KENMORE ELITE MICROWAVE 2005 Switch was out on microwave. Took it apart and ended up breaking the bracket that that three switches were mounted on. So I ordered the necessary parts to fix and it went fairly well as we live in the country so we learn how to do some of these things ourselves as it would have been cheaper to just replace the unit than to repair. Anyway, it is up and running, so one for me this time. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
