2 years ago, we had two dryer drum rollers replaced by a repair guy because they sounded like they had rocks in them. Fast forward to today, and it was making more noise. We didn't realize there were four that we should have had replaced.
I ordered replacements, and decided to see if hubby and I could pull the dryer apart and put it back together using the magic of Youtube and an understanding that, above all, dropping the drum was the worst thing you could do. We did not drop the drum. We took our dryer COMPLETELY apart, put the new rollers in, and then reassembled the whole thing. It's silky, smooth, and even dries things faster than it did before now that we took the outstandingly impressive amount of animal hair out of the casing. Thank you!!!
I sorta regret not doing the idler pulley and belt at the same time, since they were both completely accessible, but it also wasn't that hard to do, so it's okay. We can fix that problem when we come to it.
