How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4437693 / 4036ER2003A Tub Seal

The spider was broken. Due to its age, I replaced the door seal, bearings and tub seal. This washer is remarkably easy to work on and there are many videos on YouTube to show you how do do anything you might need to do to it. The biggest challenge was replacing the bearings. I didn't like the suggested method of pounding them in with a hammer and punch but the tub is too big to fit in my press. There must be a tool to make that job easier. Ultimately, the parts were replaced and the problem was solved. This washer should run for another 15 years now. I bought a spring tool as I was concerned about damaging the door seal using a screw driver and pliers. 

I reviewed a video on AppliancePartsPros.com on how to fix the problem. I ordered a spider arm assembly, outer tub seal, tub bearing and tub seal and was able to fix my washer. The video was a step-by-step guide that was easy to follow. I had some problems removing a couple of the bolts, but the video gave me some trade secrets about removing them. Overall it was a great experience to be able to fix my own appliance and not rely on a repair person this time. 

I’d called AppliancePartsPros and a fine lady gave me the parts list I needed based on my machine model. She also pointed me in the direction of a video to learn how to repair my machine. Although the video is not for my exact model, it is clear and easy to understand, so I did it without any issues. 

I had two problems with my LG washer: 1- The rotor assembly teeth had sheared off so it couldn’t spin the drum when laundry was in it. I had attempted to fix it by ordering just the plastic hub in the middle of the assembly for cheap on Am*zon, but it was a somewhat loose fit resulting in the rotor banging against the screws on the stator, plus making a growling sound, during spin. I ordered the full rotor assembly here, put that on, and it fixed both problems. I had also ordered a tub bearing and gasket because I wasn’t sure what caused the growling noise, but I returned those because they weren’t necessary. 2- The drain pump in my machine has been loud FOR YEARS—like we had to close the door of our bathroom when doing a load if we wanted to watch TV. It started sounding worse the last couple months. Then the other day the washer gave the OE error code. I took out the old pump to find out it was a non-OEM replacement. The new one is at least 60% quieter (rejoice!); but of course, it fixed the issue and we could do laundry once again (rejoice!). Honestly the hardest part of this repair is getting that front tub-gasket seal back on after you put the front of the washer back on. 

I followed Simon on your video and had to dismantle the LG washer and replace the spider bracket, bearings and seal. The seal is what was causing the smoke. The video was excellent and the parts were right. The washer is working great now! The repair took a few hours but a lot of that time was spent cleaning parts before reassembly. This is the second time I have repaired one of my appliances with your parts and videos. Thank you appliance parts pros, you provide a great service. 

Watched the video on how to replace the bearings, tub seal, and bearing seal ordered the parts, and got to work. It took about 5 hours (3 1/2 to disassemble-took our time watching the video step by step- then about 1 1/2 hour to put it back together. My LG washer works like new again. NOTE: only 1 guy did the repair in the video (he made it look easy) but I had my son help or I would probably still be working on it. Also, don’t be afraid to beat on the bearings to get them out - mine didn’t come out as easy as in the video. Thank you for the video and good price in the parts - beat buying another washer!!! 

Replaced the 2 bearings and oil seal on the drum. Verified it was the bearing by checking the drum for play when turning. 

My husband replaced the bearings on our machine. Now my washer runs very smoothly and much quieter too. 

Knew it was bearing right off. After getting the data info, pulled up appliancepartspros.com, and entered the model number. Easy interface with exploded sheets to find what parts are needed for the job. Very fast shipping, and the parts came from 2 different locations and arrived the same day. Watched the repair video twice, and jumped into the job. Went off like clockwork. I'm glad I watched the video, or I would still be fighting the pins for the shock absorbers under the tub. Had no issues what so ever, once I got to the bearings, was easily able to know for sure that was the problem. After 2 1/2 hours later, the machine was back up and running. The only thing I would add to the video is how high the blocks for supporting the tub need to be. I made mine out of 2x6 material. It should be 2x10 or 2x12. I will definitely be using appliancepartspros.com again in the future! 

Dismount the washer machine, step by step following the video instructions, remove se es, remove broken bearings, clean everything and mount washer.
