How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4437692 / 4036ER4001C Outer Tub Seal

I replaced the spider arm assembly. While doing so, I went ahead and changed a couple of questionable shocks and replaced the door boot gasket because of wear and discoloration. 

Went on line to see if I could fix it first. Everyone on line said it was the bearings for the drum that went bad. Everyone on line suggested to change both bearings, seal and O-ring. So I order the parts from A.P.P. they showed up 2 days earlier then expected. The repair took me a long time because it was my first time trying it. I think you can never ask a bad question, but you will forget to ask the right question. Always research what should be replaced when attempting any repair. Thank you 

Found the spider arm and bearings were damaged. Had to replace the inner and the outer bearings and also the spider arm.

I ordered the bearing and seal kit for the drum, however once disassembled I discovered that the spider was cracked in several places. Bearings actually were good, but once torn down this far it didn't make since not to go ahead and install the new bearings. One thing to keep in mind when replacing the spider...the six bolts are held in place with thread lock compound. Heating the aluminum spider near the bolts makes removing the bolts a lot easier. Matter of fact there were two bolts I could not remove until I used heat. Bought a small $10 butane torch, worked like a charm. 

I replaced the spider assembly using the AppliancePartsPros.com video. Overall everything went smoothly. It is a little challenging to remove the spider asm bolts and assembly from the drum. 

Tore LG washer down with the help of your video, found the spider arm was coming to pieces. Bearings turned freely. Just ordered the arm and tub gaskets. They arrived in two days. Put it back together and it worked the first time. Would have spent half the cost of a new washer to have it repaired. Even though I am pretty handy, my family was offering condolences because they did not believe it would go back together and work. Your videos made the job do-able. As someone else said, putting the inner door gasket retainer on before the tub weights is a better idea. Not removing the inner ring at all is even better, though. 

I ordered a new spider, outer door gasket clamp and the tub seal. 

Replaced spider 

Ordered the bearings and seal. Took the machine apart and found the spider arm broken. Replaced the above and the machine is now very quiet. However during the rinse cycle the machine leaks when it is filling up. The outer drum is no longer available. There is a slice in the outer drum from the inner drum.
