How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP5810251 / 5221DD1001F Dishwasher Water Inlet Valve

I read the comments for the troubles, found some that was the same dishwasher did not fill and made a loud noise so order the parts that was recommend by appliance pros tech install both its just like new. 

Found part online, ordered it. Was able to change out without any problems. Easy to do... 

I took the leaking part out and put the new part in! It's pretty straightforward. Since the washer is 10 years old, the new part was a little different. Better built actually. I bought a new compression adaptor - brass instead of the original plastic. I'm happy with the results. It did take me a bit longer since this was the first time I did it - that and a couple of oops! :) 

Very simple. Just replace defective water inlet valve. 

Ordered the new supply valve since the brass fitting is an integral part of it. It is very difficult to access the valve without pulling the dishwasher out and elevating the front. The front cover needs to be removed, and then the screws holding the actual unit must be removed. there is another plate above that must be removed from the side that you are working on, and then the supply valve can be slid upward and out to remove the unit. Disconnect the electrical connection and the hose (mine had a 'pinch' type hose clamp), making sure you keep the hose stretched out where you can reconnect it to the new unit (I used a vise grip pliers behind the hose clamp to keep mine out). Reverse the order to re-install... 

Ordered control valve from website and installed the new one. Plug and play. 

Took the dishwasher out and turned it on its side so I could inspect underneath. Removed the bottom metal pan so I could see into the bottom of the dishwasher. I noticed an area on the bottom of the water inlet valve where the solenoid mounts looked like water may have been leaking. Also one of the hoses looked like it may have rubbed the bottom metal pan and could be leaking. I ordered a new LG hose and LG water inlet valve. When they arrived I removed the old one and installed the new one. No more leaks!! I have ordered appliance parts from AppliancePartsPros.com before and am very satisfied with the whole system. I really like getting the exact mfg part for my appliance instead of a generic "one size fits all" part. Having the exact mfg part makes the repair much easier.

Performed dye test (water + food colouring) to see if sump was leaking and was looking at pump / pump gasket issues. It wasn't, so looked at water inlet valve assembly. It was corroded, covered with calcification. Ordered the part on a Sunday, and it arrived on a Wednesday ... very simple to replace. Had to unhook water anyway, so disconnected electrical and pulled unit out to facilitate replacement. 10 minute job. Dishwasher is as good as new, and a 28 dollar part saved me a 300$ appliance tech bill.
