How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4224485 / DE64-00760A Microwave Door Latch Hook

After seeing video on how to get apart door and replace latch hook, I ordered a new one from AppliancePartsPros.com. Part arrived promptly. Got into door and found that the little tab on the latch hook had not broken as is usually the case (per the video). In this case the anchor point for the spring to the door frame had broken. I took a 6" piece of floral wire and fabricated a small loop to catch the spring end on the end of the wire. I then threaded the plain end of the wire through an existing hole in the door frame about 1" below the desired place for the spring anchor and twisted it firmly in place. Then I hooked the spring into the loop and reinstalled the latch hook. This fixed the problem. I didn't really need a new latch hook, but it was cheap so I'll just keep it just in case. 

Bought the necessary part, had my handyman replace it and it works!!!!!!!!! 

An accurate diagnosis is 90% of the fix. A piece holding the door lock spring broke off preventing the door hooks to engage. 2 tools required. Gently using a screwdriver to pry off the cover. Replaced the broken plastic hook piece. Needle-nose pliers to install the spring. 10 minutes [includes washing up afterwards]. A less than $7 part saves a $400 appliance.. 

Heard a small snap when pulling on the door handle and then latches stopped holding and door wouldn't stay closed. A little internet research led to AppliancePartsPros, which (1) had instructions for (easily) removing the inner door frame to see the likely issue and (2) had the very inexpensive Door Latch Hook that was the solution. Arrived quickly, replacement in minutes, and microwave was back to normal. Thanks very much to AppliancePartsPros.com.

I was a little nervous because, by the time the part arrived, my husband had had surgery and wasn't mobile, so I had to deal with it. But the part was VERY easy to install and my microwave works great! 

It was easy to find the right products .We ordered latch door hook. It was very easy to fix . 

Removed thin cover on door circumference with putty knife. lifted off existing latch hook. installed spring onto new latch, slid latch into place. reinstalled cover. tested, all worked good. 

Replaced door latch with part from your company original equipment latch. 

I got online and went to bookmarks and found AppliancePartsPro.com my favorite place to go for my Samsung microwave parts. I can DIY some things myself and the microwave I can fix the small parts. I do not have any instructions or manual to fix it. I just have to look and see how the old parts fit. Whatever you do make sure to keep any part that breaks off to see how it will go back on after you get the new parts. 2 prong latch and spring built into door broke. Replaced both very easily with door still attached. parts were under $10.00.
