How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4201892 / DC47-00015A Dryer Thermostat

My husband ordered the parts and fixed it himself 

I bought all 3 pieces because i wasn't getting any error codes and didn't trust my meter - turned out the meter was right and the heating element was out. Easy repair and super quick getting my parts to me even during the holidays. 

Replaced heating element and to sensors by element 

I got online at AppliancePartsPros.com and found my make and model and low and behold, the main causes of dryer not heating were spelled out, and an explanation of each and how a bad thermistor can cause thermostat to fail, along with heaing element as a possibility. I decided to it, ordered all 3 on a Friday, and received them on Monday. The videos made the install very straightforward, and once everything buttoned up, the dryer worked perfectly. We ordered an element, thermostat, and thermistor-might as well replace them all while it was apart. I really appreciate not having to go to the laundromat in -10 weather. It was easy to order from AppliancePartsPros.com I will order from here again if I ever need appliance parts. 

The DYI video was spot on except my unit had three extra screws. One in the front of the air intake securing the element casing to the mount bracket and two behind the mount bracket securing the bracket to the floor. Had to get a short (3in) ratchet screwdriver and reach around the back of the mounting bracket to remove. Took a little extra time to figure out the extra screws but everything else was the same as the video. 

I replaced the high limit thermostat and the thermal fuse, although I didn't suspect it was the problem after changing the heating element, it was the next step other than the thermistor. During this time I went further into cleaning and took off the cover for the blower and discovered several pieces of lint probably knocked loose from the previous element change stuck in the blower that was probably hindering the air flow, thus overtemp. Although I had the tools and expertise, the new thermal fuse did not come with the mounting bracket. The old thermal fuse was pop riveted to a mounting bracket, so I had to drill out the pop rivets and find either small pop rivets or I used small screws for the replacement mounting. 

Replaced heating element, thermostat, thermistor, and two internal fuses. Was not difficult to repair and dryer is running better than new now. Heating element failed, but changed all common failing parts since I had the dryer apart. Needed a rivet gun to install one of the fuses-FYI. 

Following the video, I removed the heat element and shroud. The heater element tested ok with the multimeter, but the thermal fuse had no continuity so I ordered one and replaced it. No problem. I appreciated the videos which made everything pretty simple. 

Ordered the heating element and fuses not knowing exactly what was going on and wanted all possible replacement parts readily accessible. Got the heating element out and saw that it was the problem. Replaced it pretty easily. Did not need the fuses so I returned them. Way better than throwing in the towel and buying a new dryer!
