How to Troubleshoot & Replace Speedqueen AP2403591 / 61927 Heater Assembly (240V)

Ordered heating element from APP. The web site told me that the most likely problem was the thermal fuse so I ordered that as well. Part arrived the next day. Took a few mins to figure out how to get to the in nerds of the dryer but using two sizes of nut drivers the job was done in about 30 mins. Parts were the correct ones and worked. 

Installed new heater assembly in 15 min. and worked great 

Replaced the assembly with new parts. Took all of about 20 mins. and dryer working perfectly now. 

We found a video of our dryer & how to take it apart & test the heating element. Then we found the dryer model number & ordered a heating element kit from here. We were so pleased to see that it matched exactly!! We cleaned out all the lint from the dryer while we had it open. We had to call the Appliance Pro Technical Support to verify the wiring pattern because the directions for the new part were slightly different & they were extremely helpful!! Our 20 year old dryer is purring along again! 

The temp sensor was fried but decided to replace the entire heating element too in case the impedance was low on the old one. The heating element comes with the sensor and thermostat but purchased another sensor only kit to fix the old one for backup. The old element measured fine compared with the new one. The Heating element kit shows it comes with jumper wires but it did not. The sensor kit did have the wires which I needed to replace. Also, the bulb is not the correct bulb for my speed queen dryer. My dryer uses a bayonet two contact bulb. I should have looked closer at the picture of the bulb before purchasing it. Its wonderful I can still buy parts for a 30-year-old dryer. Drive belt and tumbler rollers replaced a few years ago...can still get those too. And the delivery was very fast from appliance parts pros. 

Appliance parts pros was able to verify that replacement parts were compatible with my appliance model. Received parts in 2 days with standard shipping!

I knew how to fix it, but watched the "Appliance Pro" video that was on their website in the parts page and can tell you these people are GREAT!

I checked the model number and went to the appliance parts pro web-site, found the parts I needed and ordered them. The next day after they arrived (on-time as promised) I installed the with one tool. It was up and running again in no time!
