How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3134037 / 72017 Appliance Touch-Up Paint

Suspected the door seal as it looked pretty rough with a lot of hard water and soap deposits. Ordered the new seal and watched the installation video. I didn't do it quite as fast as the video, but it was pretty simple if you just do it carefully. All fixed! 

I ran a test as noted in the supplied manual, it said to replace the control module. Easy to find in the parts bin of Appliance Parts Pros, ordered it and received it in a week. After being installed the oven would still not heat beyond 280 degrees. I then looked into possible problems suggested by APP and found that the typical problem might be the heating element, bingo. The element was partly melted, so another order through APP on a Friday afternoon and on Monday I received the new part. That fixed it. I tried the old control module to see if I really needed it or was the problem only the second fix, the heating element. Not so lucky. The fix needed both parts. 

Well problem was worst as broken hinge not noticed by spouse for perhaps a year ??? The lid still worked but was harder to lift and banged when it closed - spring mechanism inside washer walls counters that weight of the lid for smooth closing. Also all the paint damage and rust was because it when unnoticed for a year, She wanted to get a new washer !!!! But after finding that replacement hinge arm at AppliancePartPros and ordering it plus some original Whirpool touchup paint, I wire brushed the rust clearing away for new paint - went beyond the open rust until the rust cheeping under the paint was all gone. Used some Car Touchup clear finishing paint to seal temporarily the open metal, but the Appliance part/paint came that next day !!! Then it took me perhaps 15 minutes to paint the lid corner/top washer corner where the rust damage was (making it look brand new) and install the new hinge arm - wala also brand new and lid closing like a smooth bank safe - spouse happy saying "forget about a new one, this is still good." 

I looked the part and fix-it video up online. I ended up finding the part on Appliance Parts Pro and watched a video for the repair. It was very simple and I only needed a phillips screwdriver. Took me about ten minutes maximum. The video made very simple. The part took about a week to get here and no complications.

Although it took longer than expected (about two hours) it was not difficult. disassembled the door and replaced the glass. reassembling the door was a little tricky, next time would take half the time. Bottom line is that it is fixed. 

Being a mature left handed female I had never attempted any type of appliance repair before but watched the appliancepartspro video and was able to make the repair without a hitch. I was very pleased but somewhat surprised that it went so smoothly. The video was a tremendous help. The part that I ordered for the. Repair arrived quickly and also had accompanying instru. 

Removed the washer door, replaced the existing hinge with the new one that I purchased on-line from Appliance Parts Pros and reattached the door to the washer (all of this was done by following the on-line video instructions demo as provided by Appliance Parts Pros on YouTube).
