I ordered new elements and connection blocks, ripped out the old ones and installed the new ones. The ordered parts came in quickly and were exactly what I ordered. The most difficult part of the repair was cutting through the little screws that had rusted and corroded over the decades. With old removed, the installation of the new blocks and elements went quickly. One modification was to the support fins on the new heating elements. The element did not seat nicely most likely because the metal catch dish underneath was generic with seating slots that didn't match up with the support fins.
I carefully assessed which fins were keeping it from seating level then ground the fins down until they all sat level on the stove top. I was careful that my grinder didn't touch the element itself.
The stove now has another 20 years in it.
