How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013785 / WP9709231 Worm Gear

Cleaned old grease from transmission gear box, (it was contaminated with worn gear teeth) Replaced two gears in the transmission. Replaced gear box grease. Unit back to full power. 

You tubed the problem, opened the mixer, saw the issue, bought the parts, fixed it. 

I was able to order the worm gear part and replace it with a new one. I was not able to remove the external gear to replace it. I ordered five parts in all but really only needed one. I would have rated it as an easy job if it didn't involve having to remove the messy planetary grease; however, I knew it was necessary to get out every little speck. Replacing the fresh grease was just as messy. Finding a specialty tool, the ring pliers, to remove the c-ring from the shaft was difficult. The part had smaller holes than the pliers' knobs. You cannot complete the job without those special pliers.

Replace gear drive 

Replaced gear parts, worked great. Shipping was amazingly fast. Will use APP.com for future parts. 

New housing, gear and bearing. I removed all gears cleaned thoroughly, regreased with food grade grease for kitchen aids. Reassembled all the gears and replaced housing with a new gasket. Videos provided by Appliance Part Pros were very helpful.
