I had to replace the whole agitator. Inside the ridges were rubbed away. The agitator bolt would not come off. It was rusted shut. I actually had to tear apart the old agitator to get the bolt off. When I did that the bolt was able to come loose. It was easy to put in the new agitator and bolt. The machine worked again.
