My wife complained that the agitator was not working correctly and that it had begun making strange noises, yes confirmed by me. I felt the main bearings on her 25 yr old sudsaver Kenmore needed attention. Ordered the parts, received them very quickly. Watched the video, seemed like a piece of cake for me. Yes spend the $18 for the spanner wrench-WELL WORTH IT! Loved that "special tool" of a large socket, disassembly no problem. Installation though, didn't use the recommended 1-1/8" socket but rather a 1-1/16, bad choice! Trashed a new set of bearings. Also found that the original problem was simply bad Agitator Dogs (#80040 or AP3119063). $3-get them also. Ordered a second set of bearings, installed this time with a length of 'all-thread' and the 1-1/8" socket. Next I had accidentally gotten grease on the clutch pieces that I was unable to clean well enough for re-use so now I need a new shaft kit (mine was worn after our 25 yrs). Found it for $40 less with a different vendor, ordered-received-installed no problem piece of cake. Clear water short cycle test run and now all is A-OK, wife's happy again. Lessons learned-think small parts, if it's really big, the unit is already trashed but I would do this whole job again. Go with the suggested tools, follow the video, it was correct, wire brush the center cast Washer Drive Block and use anti-seize on reassembly, check tub throat for rust, clean of all the old soap buildup. Have fun.
