How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012229 / WP8268340 Spray Arm Bearing

Ordered the motor and assembly from appliancepartspros.com and watched the replacement video on the order page and that helped a lot! Disconnected everything, the hardest part was disconnecting the water line power and drain as there wasn’t a lot of room. Parts went back in as the video showed. There was an extra component on my drain line that the instruction didn’t show but was easy to figure out how to install it back on the new motor assembly. I also ordered a new drain pump motor just to be on the safe side and that went in as well with no problems. Got it all done checked for leaks and it works great and is much quieter! The instruction video on the parts ordering page was the best help for someone that may think that they couldn’t tackle a job like this. 

Ordered a new pump assembly. Replacement was relatively easy especially with the aid of the AppliancePartsPros videos. 

Kitchenaid Dishwasher (5 years old...) Cleaning out the grinder gunk didn’t eliminate the noisy operation so I elected to replace the motor/sump assembly including the pump. Parts arrived on time and the excellent video made the repairs relatively painless. Took me approximately 90 minutes to complete the repairs which was a first-time event for me. No more noise. I’m sure an experienced technician would easily complete the repair in less than one hour. No reason to pay extra for the ‘Kitchenaid’ brand given all parts are from Whirlpool with the same warranty regardless of the model. Sad that these newer appliances have such a short life! I will definitely use Appliance Parts Pros again if/when needed.

Watched the repair video and just followed instructions. That simple. I'm 74 years old and of course retired. So when appliance gets sick I call AppliancePartsPros.com for parts and order what I need. They are experts and they help. I've been doing it for many years. 

Replaced upper and lower spray arms and a few other parts. 

Replaced pump and motor part. 

Ordered a new sump pump thru Appliance Pro's and watch their video on replacement. My biggest issue was getting the dishwasher out from under the counter. We had laid new 3/4" think Tile in front of it. There was just enough room barely after pulling the front legs all the way up using a quarter inch ratch to get it up and over the tile lip to get it out from under the counter. Once that was accomplished, the actual motor replacement was super easy. My upper spray tube was more complex then the one in the video. And I did not remove it. When I got the pump loose, I rotated it to remove it from lower piece that carries water up to the upper and middle water spray bars. Reinstalled it the same way I took it out. Used soap to lubricate the gasket as shown, put the three wedges in to hold it and went back together easy. I actually had the dishwasher on it's side when I inserted the motor and pump so that I could see while I rotated the motor a quarter turn into the lower arm and locked it into place. Now the dishwasher washes better than ever and is very quiet.
