How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6006364 / WP22003441 Washer Drum Bearing

I ordered the recommended parts as per the trouble shooting list and used the instructions from the video. The instructional videos are great , thank you for making them. The special break removal tool recommended in the video is no longer available and a tool is definetly required to remove the assembly. I was fortunate to have a big ajustable metal wrench to remove my cartrides in my RO system, which I could use. Regardless it was quite difficult to remove the break assembly and the new one could not be screwed in by hand as shown on the video. I did put everything together but forgot to change the damper pads so I had to redo the work a second time. The whole process took several hours, but now the machine is working great. Saved me from having to by a new one 

35 yr old washer. Found mounting stem in tub eaten away and both bearings bad. Using a polyurethane adhesive I glued the boot seal into the tub to both locate and form a watertight seal. Replaced the bearings, cleaned up the rust and reassembled everything as per the video. Machine is running like new. Excellent service from appliance parts pros. Very pleased. 

I changed basket seals and bearing and belts. I had to use penetrating oil and a heat gun to get the sleave off the transmission shaft. Make sure you wear mechanics gloves when removing panels and tub and basket. I used a little gasket cement to hold the blue fiber washers onto the tub supports. When I ran in the seals there was a little noise and hot rubber smell but I did two loads of laundry and all went well. The agitator seemed to move better and the spin cycle remove much more water than in the recent past. My clothes dried in about half the time. 

I went on YouTube and followed instructions for repair. It was relatively easy except I had trouble removing the lower hub to get to the bearing. I did not have the brake wrench needed and the hub was little seized on. I ended up chiseling it loose which worked okay other than that smooth repair. 

Replaced brake assembly plus the two bearing while I had it apart. 

First if this wasn't such a solid unit been working forever it seems I never would have done this repair. Getting the old bearings out was alittle tough but got them out and all the new parts installed and back together. Old reliable is back in operation! 

Pulling the old bearings was not easy. Had to pound like crazy to get them popped out. During the process I learned that the shaft was bad too. Ordered all the parts and put them in. Works great now. Only cost me. $230 for it all! Allot less than a whole new machine. 

Replaced bea ring &seal 

Found a great YouTube video that showed step by step how to do it. Took my time and didn't have any problems. While I had the washer apart, I replaced the second bearing, both seals and did a general cleaning. If you're handy with tools, this job isn't hard, especially with the YouTube video. 

This fix required the bearings and lip seal kit. My machine was purchased in 2000 and the seal was leaking into the bearings. Getting the drum out and then bearings out and in was not an easy task. Get a puller to accomplish this job much quicker. I needed to really pound them out and back in. This took a lot longer than expected due to the corrosion in the drum metal and the bearings. I did clean a lot of gunk (from Soap scum) out of my machine. It is now working quiet as it should.
