The OEM Replacement is a bearing designed to function as the rear bearing in Whirlpool front-load washers. It also works as the upper brake bearing in top-load washers. Positioned near the tub's brake assembly, this component plays a significant role in the operation of the washer. In top-load washers, it resides above the brake assembly.

Causes of a bad bearing can include prolonged wear and tear, exposure to excessive loads, or water intrusion that leads to rust and corrosion. A compromised bearing can lead to more significant issues if not addressed promptly.

Symptoms of a bad bearing include:

  • Loud, unusual noises during the wash or spin cycles
  • Excessive vibration or movement of the washer
  • The drum not rotating smoothly or becoming stuck
  • Leaks around the drum area

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Bearing (Part Number: OEM18019101)

Rob for Model Number LAT9304AAE

I recently changed the tub seal and bearing plus drive/pump belts in my 26 year old Maytag LAT9304AAE washer. Prior to the repair, water leaked from around the seal plus a squealing sound was heard during the spin cycle. Now after the above repair the unit agitates but the tub does not spin in spin cycle. I can manually rotate the tub counterclockwise by hand and the motor runs the pump belt but during the spin cycle the drive belt is not rotating the brake assembly. There appears to be increased resistance to rotation of the brake assembly when needing to rotate the drum in CCW direction. I am suspecting that the bearing above the brake assembly may have gone out due to water exposure. Maybe the brake assembly also needs replacing? Your thoughts are appreciated!

Dennis, The "spin Bearing" for the model number you supplied is no longer available as an individual part. Your best option would be the W10219156 tub seal kit. The part is in stock and available. Thanks,

Hello Rick. That is correct. You will need a special tool to install the bearings and they do not offer them anymore because of that issue. You will need to purchase the complete outer tub assembly for the bearings needed. Thank you.

Hello Dan, This can be as simple as changing the belts 12112425 or it could be a seizing brake WP6-2011900 or failing motor 12002351. You would need to do a bit of troubleshooting to determine the exact cause of the failure.

Neal, There are a couple of things to recheck and check. Are you sure you removed all of the original sleeve/race from the top of the transmission case ? Did you apply approximately 1/4 teaspoon of turbine oil to the bearing and race and did you over torque the tub mounting seal when you put the machine back together ? The stem only needs to be hand tight as possible, then tap the spanner wrench with a hammer or a "balled" fist, then set the set screw. Since you needed the bearing and seal kit, you probably had a leak, you'll want to remove the front panel, put the washer in a spin cycle and carefully listen, to see if the noise is coming from the lower portion of the base/cabinet under the machine. If the leak was large or it leaked for a while the lubricant in the lower brake package bearing WP22003441 was flushed out and you'll need to replace it.
