How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6020669 / WPW10381562 Washer Door Boot

I was able to find the part and fix it by using the videos provided on the site. I could not be more pleased. The videos helped so much and finding the correct part was a breeze. I was also shocked at the speed of shipping. I had ordered the part late in the evening and it arrived the next day! What a wonderful experience and I have already told everyone I know about how wonderful the experience was! 

My wife has wanted a front loading washer for years. But those types of appliances were out of our price range. I was doing some remodeling work for a man and he had a nice one in his garage because the door leaked. I asked him about it and told him my wife wanted one. So he politely told me to "get my washer out of his garage." So I did. Upon investigation I found a huge hole in the bellow. I got on the Internet and found your Web Page and all the info needed to order a new bellow. We also found a video showing how the bellow could be changed out. Awesome! The real surprise came when I received my new bellow the very next day after ordering it. I really couldn't believe it when I was tracking it and saw that it would be here so soon. I immediately went to work to replace the old one and concluded that the old one wore out due to the previous owners using powdered detergent. The repair went well and I was successful in reaching my 'Repair Goals.' That was proven shortly after I hooked it up and my wife washed her first load of clothes. But I will say, the video made it look a whole lot more simpler than it really was!?!? Thanks for your help and your prompt service! Be sure I'll be back in the future for all my appliance needs. 

Once I figured out what was wrong and what needed replaced, I was able to easily look up the part needed and order it on AppliancePartsPros.com. A video accompanied the part I needed to order and it was very easy to understand and follow along. My husband and son were able to remove and replace the part after watching the video in about an hour. We have our washer and dryer stacked, so the dryer did have to be removed in order to take the washer apart. 

Replaced the bellows. With a little help from the Samurai Appliance Repairman, and a couple other websites, this looked like a very straightforward job, and it was. Putting the new bellows in place was tricky... one side kept falling out before the other side was in, so I had to recruit an extra set of hands. Be sure to orient "top" and "bottom" correctly... it is clearly labeled. Stretching those wire-and-spring clamps into place was also a bit of frustration, but I finally got them. The rest of the work was mostly unscrewing and removing panels, then re-installing afterward. I notice the new bellows was a little beefier at the bottom than the original. Guess I'm not the first one who had this problem. 

I ordered a bellow from AppliancePartsPros.com, for the second time as the last time it broke was in 2012, 1 month after the warrantee ran out. I saved the information and diagram in the wash machine manuel and this time it took 5 minutes to order and I received the bellow within days. The bellow is great and solid from here, the problem is my Maytag front load on Rapid Wash seems to run on jet turbo to the point the whole house shakes on spin cycle (I think that is what caused 2 bellows to rip), now I am using the delicate cycle and drying the clothes a little longer as the spin cycle is not fast as it was before. It took myself (small woman) and my adult son about 1 & 1/2 hours to replace. The diagram on AppliancePartsPros.com is very good and we also reviewed a YouTube video on how to install during the installation.

I am a reasonably competent fixit person. I watched the YouTube video on removing the covers, the old boot, then replacing them. Whole repair took about 30 minutes - from getting my tools to putting them back. I live in a rural area, so this probably saved me $200 to $250 service call.
