How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6015603 / WPW10136934 Dryer Drive Belt

This was an easy repair. The idler pulley was easy to change out it was the source of the squealing. The belt was worn and fraying due to the idler pulley being worn out. The belt was not difficult to change either. Changing the parts out killed the squeal.

The drum seal was torn and falling into the drum. Ordered new seals, repair kit, and belt. They arrived in 1.5 days so I was pretty happy about that. Was pretty easy to fix - the biggest hassle was removing the old glue. I found a chisel was the best way to go - adhesive removers and wire brushes didn’t work as well. It’s important to note that I had to buy the belt separately for MEDB800VQ0 since the belt that came with the kit was not the right size. Online videos were a big help. 

I replaced the drum seal, the wheels supporting the drum, and the belt. I ordered the repair kit for my model dryer which came with wheels and belt. It turns out that the belt was too short. I ended up ordering a belt listed specifically for my dryer. The person on line found the correct belt. Unfortunately, I ended up eating the cost of the belt that came in the kit because it was un returnable. The repair was very straightforward. The belt replacement was as shown in the video with the belt that fit the dryer.

I assumed it was the belt slipping, but after watching your repair video it was clearly the idler pulley making the noise. One of your staff helped me select the correct part and suggested I change the belt at the same time. I did and our dryer is as good as new now. Thank you for your wonderful help and service.
