How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6017673 / WPW10245259 Range Terminal Block

I ordered the two most commonly replaced parts for oven not heating. Turned out it was the baking heating element which is easily replaced with just a #2 Philips screwdriver. I did disconnect power to the oven first for safety. For the record, my wife reported a loud buzz and smoke before the oven stopped heating. The element was burned in two. 

Replace terminals on burnt wiring and replaced terminal block. 

Installed a new one 

I purchased a bake element and terminal block (just in case) from Appliance Parts Pros. I disassembled the oven to expose terminal connections and expose bake element. The element was clearly bad. It took 10 minutes start to finish and cost $86! 

I saw a video by APP on YouTube who to remove and test the old element, so I did that and found it was defective. On other repair sites it was mentioned that the powerblock may also be bad. Since it was rather inexpensive, I ordered that too. The parts came a day later than promised, but I was able to do the installation in less than one hour. Thanks! 

Took off the old and put on the new, it was easy. 

I bought the replacement from appliance pros.com and paid for next day shipping. I saw that the nuts on the ground post were melted and didn't come with the new part. I bought new nuts that came in package with screws for $1.67 and replaced all the old nuts. It is working fine now. Thanks. 

We replaced the terminal block and stripped the oven wires that were fried and replaced the ends. We also replaced the power cord because it was also melted. 

Replace it. 

Fix was a piece of cake. All parts came in on time and I was able to save $200 from having our local appliance guy do it. Most difficult part was wasting 3 hours being transferred around the clueless Whirlpool parts dept. I guess the part I needed wasn't on their schematic.
