How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6329460 / W11221359 Electronic Control Board (Console Control)

A service tech came to my home to troubleshoot the fridge. he tested a few things and told me it was the high voltage circuit board. I ordered it from appliance part pros and it did not work. they sent me another and it did not work either so I came to the conclusion with the help of the staff it was the overlay. I changed 9t and it is working great. this was the best customer service ive ever had the pleasure to deal with. thanks again and I will recommend this site to everyone. 

Replaced overlay 

Bought a new overlay. Unplugged the fridge and removed the face plate. Remove the drip tray and removing the two hex head nut screws. Gently pull the bottom of the face plate out and up and it should pop off. There are 3 circuit connectors that are attached to the back. Unclip those to free the face plate. Not really for the faint of heart but the next step was to pull off the existing overlay -- I used a small flat head screw driver and started at one side of the face plate. Dig the screw driver in and pull up on the overlay. Yes, this will totally screw up the existing overlay. Once you get enough of the over lay up, you should be able to pull it out like a big ole ugly sticker. I have hear of some people using a hair dryer on it first to soften it up. I didn't do that -- I just went to town. It left a few dots of residue glue, but I cleaned it up with a little alcohol wipe. Now for the stressful part: Practice laying out the new overlay, so you know where to place it - once it starts to stick, it is not going to come up well or at all. Also I think it was easier to feed the circuit ribbon through the slot before I placed the overlay. Mine came out just fine. It overlapped a little bit on the edge, but I took the little screw driver around the edge of the overlay to tuck it in and make it flush. Looks as good as new. 

My husband replaced the Overlay and the problem was solved. 

The water/ice dispenser control panel overlay on our Maytag Ice2O French door refrigerator had worked intermittently for a year or so and finally "STUCK LOCKED". Ordered the Whirlpool / Maytag overlay from Appliance parts (AP4500129) and replaced it in 30 minutes. Some helpful suggestions form the interweb were useful in removing the malfunctioning part but suggestions as to how to place the new (VERY STICKY) overlay without having to reposition it (VERY DIFFICULT) would have been nice, too. Even so, the whole repair took less than 30 minutes. 

It was a easy replacement. I removed the two little screws under the water tray, pulled the power cord and removed the ribbon cables. I took the smallest screw driver I could find and got up under one side of the touchpad and peeled it back. It did not leave any sticky residue so I just fed the new ribbon cable through and put the panel back on carefully to ensure that it lined up. It's easier to line up the panel if you removes the paper by peeling the edge and roll it back with your fingers as you apply it. It went on easy and within 10 minutes from start to finish. 

Replaced the overlay circuit board 

I ordered the overlay from appliance parts pros as others had done I used a hairdryer to remove the old overlay that was the hardest part of the procedure. I put through new one on and reconnected everything turned the refrigerator back on and it worked great! 

Looked up part on Appliancepros.com. Ordered non-expedited shipping. Read advice on how to get old part off. I needed a hair dryer to loosen the adhesive. New popped on. Re-connected wires. Everything worked great. 

I replaced the keyboard with the new ordered part.
