How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6016296 / WPW10175241 Control Panel

Had to purchase the control board unit. Was very easy to swap out and is working perfectly. 

New control panel. worked perfect 

Ordered parts from Appliance Part Pros. Watched a you tube video to get some ideas, and went to work. I had all the tools needed, which were basically a star drive screwdriver, and a very small socket. The only problem I encountered was that some of the very small bolts holding the dispenser in were rusted. Still not a problem as I was able to loosen them, and reuse them. 

Replaced the control panel 

I ordered from AppliancePartsPros.com the exact/correct replacement part--the control panel. I turned off the circuit breaker, installed the new control panel, and moved the actual circuit board to the new control panel and plugged it in. I put everything back together the way it was supposed to be, and I turned the circuit breaker back on. I ran a trial cycle, and the dishwasher WORKED! I"m thrilled it was so easy! 

First, I found the maintenance manual under the kick plate. Then watching videos from various sources I was able to disassemble the door and gain access to the control panel and control board. You may have to go to various videos because some are accurate but DO NOT show the particular model you're trying to repair. For example, there are slight variations in how to disassemble the front panel. Following the directions for servicing the machine I was able to pinpoint that it was in fact the control panel and NOT the control board. I ordered the part from appliancepartspros,com and fixed the problem. This is the second time in about a month that I have had the opportunity to order parts, the first was to replace the water valve that feeds water to the refrigerator ice maker. Two for two with these folks, I highly recommend them. Repairs are relatively easy even for a novice such as myself. A neighbor had a TORX set of drivers which was a big help in getting the panel disassembled.

Order the part from your website. Received the part very quickly. Installed it without any problem and wa la a working dishwasher. 

We called a repair person who didn't diagnose the problem, but gave us two ideas about what the problem might be. Because the repair person was so unhelpful, we decided to try to go through with the repair ourselves. We bought a new control panel, because this was the most likely culprit of our problem. Opening the dishwasher was fairly easy and unplugging everything from the control panel wasn't difficult either. We did take a pic of how everything was plugged in in case we had problems with plugging things into the new panel. We referenced the pic once, but had the dishwasher back up and running in under 30 minutes!
