How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4507822 / W10285077 Cooktop

I purchased my replacement ceramic cooktop from AppliancePartsPros.com because of their price and support information as to how to install the replacement cooktop. I was hesitant to do the jobfor fear of breaking the ceramic cooktop, but I went ahead and ordered it. The part arrived in 2 days as they said it would. I started the install following the procedure that one of the other customers had on the Appliance Parts Pro website and it went just as he had described. No problem following the detailed procedure. Doing this myself has encouraged me to do this again. Also having telephone support is very helpful. I would no hesitate to do this again. 

Phillips screwdriver and knife. Followed instructions posted by previous customer. 

E-z fix . removed screws , slide out broken top . slide in new top and install screws. 

Ordered replacement part and replaced cook top 

Very, very easy installation. Entire replacement time was around 20 minutes, including cleanup. 

1. I sobbed openly till my son and grandson felt compelled to step in and save me from me! 2. a few basic tools did the job. The guys watched a u-tube repair tutorial. They then without hesitance were able to complete the task....BRAVO Great product and excellent supporting docs etc. 

I ordered the cooktop and after very quick delivery set out on the task to install the new one. It was a pretty straight forward install. You have to take off the front control panel to get to the two screws that hold it in place. No screw on the back it has two metal hooks that kinda slide into place keeping the back secure. It took me alot longer than it should but that was only because while I had everything open I did alot of cleaning to get dust,dirt and grease splatter cleaned up. Pretty simple and looks just like it did when I bought it brand new. Thanks Appliance Parts Pros! 

I purchased new glass top for stove. 

Ordered new cooktop, followed installation instructions from a customer that previously provided feedback and completed the job in less than 30 minutes. 

I followed the detailed instructions posted by Robert H in May 2014. I had a little trouble lining up the plastic guide pins with the holes in the control assembly, but other than that it was very easy. The only reason the replacement took more than 6 or 7 minutes is that I opted to clean the gunk off of the rubber gasket.
