How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4113223 / 99002254 Door Latch Assembly

Got on Youtube on how to replace the door switches for my model. Ordered switches. Replaced per Youtube example. Unit now works. 

Replaced latch assembly with new switches. 

New door latch assembly fixed it. 

Replaced the door latch assembly. Very easy since I've done it before. 

AppliancePartsPros.com told me there was an 80% chance it was the door latch sensors, so I ordered them The video here made it simple and easy to install the parts. Works like a champ now. 

I replaced the part I bought from your online website and it works again! The dishwasher is 25 years old. The local appliance store said no parts are available for my 25 year old Maytag D/W. They told me to come and buy a new One! Thank you soooo much.?? P.S. A Solar student staying with us was an appliance repairman for 30 years. He directed us to a You tube site and ironically the demonstrator was trouble shooting a dishwasher exactly like Ours! So, he noted what usually went wrong and it happened to be the same with Ours! Searched the parts for my older Maytag unit on AppliancePartsPros.com-factory diagram popped up and all parts listed. Easy to order, quick delivery. 

If you push on door it would restart and shut off again later. Thru investigation found plastic retainer was worn and had some slope in contacting switches. The retainer switched out took care of the problem. 

Inspected dishwasher. Used model number to diagnose problem on line. Ordered parts. Watched video again. Received parts within 2 days. Gathered tools, installed parts and cleaned up in under an hour. Dishwasher works great. Renter was very happy. Video was very helpful in identifying needed tools and process. 

My son-in-law made the repair. However, it was not as simple as the youtube video demonstrated it would be. Everything went according to plan until you tried to close the door and engage the switch. The engineering on the new plastic piece was a bit off and interfered with closing the door completely to engage the switch. He took the new switches out of the plastic piece and installed them in the old plastic piece and we were in business. The dishwasher now working like a charm. Thanks for making this replacement part available. I was told by a repair company a year ago that the part was no longer available. Their fix was to bend the tongue part that comes out from the body of the dishwasher. The dishwasher worked on an intermittent basis. On a lark, I decided to try and buy the replacement part and found you. In short order, I had the part and am now back in business. Thank you so very much!! PS. It wouldn't have occurred to me to take the new switches out and put them in the old plastic part. I would have just given up. He didn't.
