How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3094233 / 279787 Dryer Drive Motor

I ordered the new motor from appliancepartspros.com and installed it on the dryer and it's back up working again! And they have repair videos that help you out if you aren't familiar with appliances plus they have diagrams on units so you have an idea how to take it apart and put it back together again depending on your level working with appliances. It took me more time because I cleaned all the years of lint build up inside the dryer. Thanks, Gerard C. 

The sound was coming from the dryer motor. Being that my dryer was over 15 yrs old, I changed the motor, the drum rollers, idler pulley, and belt while I had it apart. 

Took dryer apart and cleaned all dust and lint. Replaced the motor, idler pulley, belt, and rollers. Dryer runs nice and quiet now!! Hands down the best customer service I have ever dealt with! Great conversations and detailed videos on how to repair and troubleshoot your appliance needs. Well worth the extra money if it happens to be more expensive than anywhere else. 

I order a new one after calling and having appliance parts pro troubleshooting it over the phone and they new what exactly what was wrong with it after I described what it was doing. 

Replaced motor. Also replaced belt as long as I had it taken apart. My dryer is a Whirlpool Duet, purchased in 2012. I used the AppliancePartsPros.com video that goes with AP3094233 (the motor's part number) as a guide, and I would not have attempted it otherwise. Unfortunately, my dryer was newer than the one in the video, or at least had different panels and screws, etc., etc., but I nevertheless figured it out in the end! It probably would have taken less time if I had a dryer whose insides looked exactly like the video, but it still worked out (probably 2.5 hours, including vacuuming the insides as I went along). (I recommend taking notes as you take it apart, and photos with your phone as you go along, if you have to diverge from the video instructions as I did. That was a big help in getting it put back together in the proper order without any trial and error.) 

My husband did some troubleshooting from the computer and found the parts that he would need to fix it. Thank goodness he is handy, the dryer was completely taken apart, looked kind of scary with parts all over the room. But it is now in 1pc and working better than it was. It is an 11yr old unit, so we expected to have some repair work on it sooner or later. 

The part I ordered, new dryer motor, arrived on schedule and in good condition. The repair went smoothly as the motor was a direct replacement requiring no modification. Although I am not a professional repair person, the repair went relatively quickly and easily. Please note, if you purchase an online repair manual for the Sears dryer model Number 110.77612693, which is manufactured by Whirlpool and sold under various brand names, it contains a glaring error. The wrench needed to remove the blower wheel is a 7/16 inch wrench not the 7/8 inch wrench called for in the manual. That error took me about an hour to resolve. That said, the part I purchased from Appliance Pros was exactly what was needed. 

I replaced the motor with a replacement from ApplianceParts. Great experience with the part arriving less than 24 hours after order was placed. Aside from a bonehead connection I missed the installation was painless and simple and I couldn't be happier with my purchase and ApplianceParts. Thank you!
