How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6023196 / WPW10583047 Oven Broil Element (Upper)

Replaced both of them 

We ordered an affordable part from AppliancePartsPros.com and simply unscrewed the old one and reattached the new one (having turned the power off of course). We had to reattach the wires to the wires to the plugs which was a bit harder, but thanks to a great video on this site we knew just what to do. The video talks about using twist ties to keep them from falling behind the stove, but using clothespins work well too! 

I bought a new heat element and installed it myself. 

We ordered a new broil element from appliancepartspros.com. I watched their instructional video online. I think I could've done it by myself but I needed my husband's help to unscrew our old rusty screws in the oven. Also it took both of us to hook the wires back up just because it was awkward with the oven door open. But Other than that we had no problems and we were able to repair the oven by ourselves. I was so glad we didn't have to pay for an expensive repair or buy a new oven.

Purchased elements and bulb and installed them in the appliance.

The step-by-step video provided me with the confidence to install the new broiler unit myself. I particularly appreciated the warning from the experts about the short connection wires. Indeed, the wire did drop back through to the back, but because I had anticipated that and did as instructed, the repair was done in a flash. 

Brought appropriate broiler for the appliance.
