Using socket-set (1/4 in), removed ice maker from freezer compartment, removed back wall of freezer (from inside unit) exposing evaporator coil, fan, and defrost heater unit. Set refrigerator set to max cold, but fan was not running (refrig now at about 55F). With a voltmeter (AC scale) at fan connector, the voltage was OK (120VAC). Disconnected fan from power. Set meter to continuity (200ohm scale) & metered fan - it read as open circuit. Fan was dead. Removed fan assembly, removed fan, detached fan blade (new fan does no come with blade -or with power cable). Looked for replacement. Same fan from OEM (Sears) priced 2x of AppliancePartPros price.Bought from AppliancePartPros, Soldered old fan cable to new fan (I didn't have quick-connects), attached fan blade, connected it in - fit perfectly & ran fine. Reassembled everything. Refrig now good as new. (PS when I initially removed fan, noticed ice buildup under evap coil - caused by fan not working & not driving defrosted water down drainage tube causing it to freeze at tube opening; Once that tube get blocked/plugged, ice build-up begins. I had to melt that ice (evap tray and drainage tube) first before installing fan. It now work fine, also). Actual repair time was quite low - maybe an hr altogether, including soldering the cable to the new fan). Defrosting the freezer & ice build up took nearly an equal amount of time.
