How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP8054676 / W11768590 Gasket (Seal)

Replace old seal with new seal 

1) Tightened the screws around the inside door frame with a T-15 driver. These screws interfered with the door closing all the way. 2) Replaced the door seal gasket. NOTE: The gasket was quite difficult to seat completely into the channel until I applied a very light coat of vegetable oil on the gasket. That allowed the gasket to seat more deeply in the channel with minimum effort. Problem Solved! 

Ordered a new one. 

The water inlet valve was the culprit and also in my investigation the door seal was torn. So the parts were ordered and installed, now no water leak. 10 mins to install, senior moment. 

I felt the need was a new gasket at the door. Online search confirmed my suspicions. Next I searched for a new gasket by brand and model number. Many products were found ranging to over $100. The first was Appliance Parts Pro. I moved in from there to compare. I found difficulty with mist websites and found some do not stick the correct part any longer. Disappointed I returned to Appliance Parts Pro where the website was easy and the cost was a mere $19.95, and made in USA. I ordered and received a quality gasket. The installation was very easy because of instructions I gained from an online video.
