How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009384 / WP4449259 Rear Oven Door Glass

The Kitchenaid wall oven hot side glass cracked when water spilled on it. Ordered replacement glass which arrived very quickly and was expertly packaged. There are two, no, three important lessons that were learned. a. There are up to four layers of glass in an oven door. The inner glass facing the hot oven is labeled "inner", and the two nested glass panes in the interior of the door are also labeled "inner". Be sure to order the correct inner glass b. the "how to" movie shows how to unlatch a modern Kitchenaid door from the oven. It was incorrect for my oven. For my oven it required lodging small screwdriver bits into the open mechanisms. Then by closing the oven door the door latches could unhook from the wall unit. c. the "how to" movie for replacing the glass was not correct for my door. I basically had to unscrew and disassemble the whole door and all four panes to get to the cracked glass. Take measures to photograph disassembly to help with re-assembly. Also mark or photograph screw types. There are at least two different types and it is not intuitive where they should return. d. Lastly... When you clamp the inner glass panes back into place, apply sufficient screw torque to the clamping frame, else once door goes into place, the inner inner glass will slide down. The final repair looks awesome. The glass is clean and of top notch quality.

I ordered the glass from you and it was delivered earlier than I expected. It was packed perfectly with easy directions and it took me under an hour to complete the job. 

I broke the innermost glass (piece facing oven). This occurred after cleaning all 3 of the glass panels inside the door. I apparently got the fiberglass insulation wet, but not evenly wet. After reassembly, I ran the cleaning cycle and that is when it broke. So, I ordered a new replacement glass and new fiberglass insulation. Problem gone. Thanks 

Replaced cracked glass with your replacement part (glass). I took a little longer than necessary to replace the glass as I wanted to remove and clean all of the other inner door glass. 

I removed the oven door, disassembled it, removed the cracked glass, replaced it with the new glass, reassembled the door, and re-attached it to the oven. Approximately 45 minutes of work. 

While baking bread that required a water tray for a stream, a few drops of water must have dropped onto the hot oven door. This was Sunday night before Thanksgiving. We found Appliance Parts would have our glass door parts but didn't expect them on Thanksgiving eve. Very well packaged and arriving incredibly fast, we can't say enough how great this was. Thank you, Appliance Parts! Also, Tutorials on their site made an easy fix.

The AppliancePartsPros.com YouTube video was the only way I was comfortable enough to order the parts and change out the oven inner door glass myself. It was a good bonding experience with my teenage son, and we were able to do the repair and it works great! 

I had to research how to remove the door.The hinges on the door were different than the web information videos were showing. Even with the model # of the in wall oven kitchenaid did not provide any insight. Being curious about the small holes near the hing I put in two small screws in it and closing the door half way the hinges came out fro the oven. Rest was just removing screws and installing the glass one by one to finish the job.Putting the door back was easy by putting the hinges in and removing the screws from the holes near the hinges.The whole project took less than an hour.
