How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5989763 / W10854242 Grommet

Easy fix. The new grommets clipped right in and look great! 

Replaced the old knob wit a new one. 

The parts fit perfectly and the stovetop looks brand new. I had tried some other suppliers but none of them fit. 

Replaced igniter spark module for stove top. It was only difficult because 2 screws broke off while taking burners off to get to the spark module to replace it. Once the broken screws were finally removed, replacing the part was easy to do. If all had gone seamlessly, and screws had not broken, it would have been about 25-30 minutes to complete the replacement of the part instead of more than an hour. If anything additional is needed in the future, I will definitely use this company for ordering parts. 

Removed cooktop, disassembled to remove old spark module. Discolored potting on high voltage side confirmed failure. Replaced with new updated module. Added earth ground lead to module. Reassembled. Tested. All good now. Half the time was spent cleaning the cooktop and emptying cabinets underneath for access. 

Replaced 

After a quick search, found appliancepartspros.com a much better buy and bought three new ones. 

Installed the knob skirts in less than 5 minutes. Fix complete.
