Ordered the heating element for my dryer. The good news it is fully serviceable from the front. The bad news is the model number is labeled on the back.
Watch the video. It is extremely helpful. But note one important thing: Removal of the rear screw holding the heating element. That is a long reach. It is VERY helpful to have a MAGNETIC nut driver for that single item. Without it, reinstallation would be a trick. I happen to have one, so it worked well. I suggest planning in advance for that single thing.
The rest of the install was a piece of cake.
Oh, one other minor item. The video showed the removal of a different dryer front than the one I have. I did see it on a different video (not from this site), so it was no problem. The only difference is where the screws are located for removal of the front. In this video they are inside the dryer door. Actually they are at the bottom of the front. No real problem, just something to be aware of.
Finally, while checking out, it struck me that there are two things that seem to go wrong with aged electric dryers: the heating element, and the drive belt. So JUST before I hit the submit button on the order page, I went back and added the belt. Only a $10 add, so not a big deal. Now I have it in stock for the next outage.
Good luck!
