Sal, Based on the information provided I would run the diagnostics to see what other codes may come up. It sounds like you may have a control or user interface board issue. Enter diagnostics: Press Air Fluff and Time (^) - 13 Key Membrane. or Air Fluff and Time (+) - 15 Key Membrane keys for 3 seconds, or until a beep is heard. The machine will now be in Service Mode and “d” will be displayed. Press the Wrinkle Release key to access the Diagnostic Codes.

Andrew, This issue would not likely be caused by a faulty heater if the heater comes on and works but does not spin. This would be a motor that is faulty.

Hello Bob. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly.

Gordon for Model Number MDE300AYN

My son and his roommates where given this dyer by a relative of one of the boys, it had a 4 prong on it and there apartment has a 3 prong outlet, one of the boys changed out the cord to three prong, it worked for a few months but now it runs but no heat, I know it could be thermal fuse or heating element but would changing out the cord have anything to do with this. Also what is correct way to change from 4 prong to 3 prong so I can verify if they did it correctly

1 Answer

Gordon, Changing the power cord would not cause the unit to not run after a couple of months of use. As for how to wire the cord, you would put the white on the center terminal, the black and red will go to the outer terminals. There would also be a grounding strap on the center post which would go from the center terminal to the ground which is just below it.
