How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6020369 / WPW10358149 Washer Internal Drain Hose Assembly

Realized which hose it was, ordered the part on Friday night, had the part Sunday morning - amazing. 

When I saw what the problem was I looked at buying a new washer. The old one was ten years old.Then I looked at Appliance PartsPros, entered the model # and immediately found the part I needed. What was really helpful was the video that showed how to remove the sheet metal front and details on how to make the connection. My only complaint was that the clamp was not shipped with the drain hose and I had to run out to the hardware store 15 miles away to get the clamp. Hopefully I will get a few more years out of the unit and put off a $800 expense. My total cost was around $35. 

I ordered the inlet hoses, but after replacing them, I found they ate the drain hoses as well. I was trying to replace them when I found they ate the drain pump connections. I am currently awaiting the pump to complete the repair. AppliancePartsPros.com has been invaluable all the way. The schematics, videos and the service are outstanding. 

Advice: watch the videos first. They are indispensable. It was Friday, and the spouse was anxious about her leaking washer. Without first investigating the leak, I ordered the most probable parts causing the leak. All parts arrived late Monday: the direct drive drain pump, the two drain pump hoses, and the washer tub rubber gasket. Tuesday I replaced all but the tub gasket. The leak persisted; tracked it to the "vacuum break hose", or the hose from the water inlet valve that fills the tub with water. The original hose was very flimsy/thin walled but the replacement is beefy and will last forever. The most difficult part about the whole repair was getting the cabinet back on the washer frame. What I should have done FIRST is watched the repair videos. I didn't know how easy it is to get the machine apart to investigate the leak. Had I done this the first day I would have saved a little bit of time and money. But no regrets really. Great service for the DIYer from APP! Thanks!! 

I was looking at buying a used washer and they are going for nearly the price of a cheaper new one. I was able to repair it for a quarter of the money and was good as new within an hour. Some knowledge of tool use and being mechanically inclined helped but I'm sure anyone could replace these items if they take their time.

Very Easy fix. Just a flat head screw driver and some elbow grease.
