I had this issue a couple of years ago, and solved it by wiggling the components until they moved freely. That had been all it took, but it didn’t work this time. I figured it was time to replace parts. Reading through the Appliance Parts Pros site and watching Matt’s video replacement of the controller prompted me to try that first. My ice maker was mounted differently than in his video, and looked only a tiny bit different, lacking the wire arm. However, the repair was otherwise exactly the same in my Kitchen Aid 48” side by side fridge-freezer. It was installed in 2010 and has the AquaSense system. Everything is working perfectly now. Repair was super easy, requiring only a flathead and a 3/16” nut driver for the repair, which took about 10-15 minutes.
