Six months ago, I replaced the drum roller bearings. Shortly after, the squealing started. Chats with customer service personnel suggested that I get inside the dryer to inspect what is going on. I was trying to anticipate the parts needed before going inside, in order to minimize downtime.
Once inside, I rotated the drum and was able to replicate the squealing. It was coming from the bottom of the drum. Once the drum was removed, I turned my attention to the belt tension pulley. I removed the retaining clip on the pulley and removed it. The idler pulley arm shaft was rusted over and there was rust on the inside of the pulley. So there it was, we ordered a belt tension pulley and the idler pulley arm on a Saturday afternoon. I decided to reuse the two idler shaft washers. On Sunday, while preparing the dryer for new parts, I moved the two washers. While moving them, one of the washers broke in half. So now I needed two washers! While chatting with customer service, I was advised that I could not add to my order and that I would need to cancel the order. I cancelled the order and started a new one to include the washers. My order was shipped out on Monday and I received the order at noon on Wednesday. The dryer had laundry in it by 3:00 p.m.. The dryer continues to operate in silent mode today!
