How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3094197 / 279640 Dryer Idler Pulley

I found and followed the excellent video HERE at AppliancePartsPros.com. I took my dryer apart and found the idler pulley. It was frozen. I ordered the part and it was at my front door in 2 business days (there was a weekend between ordering and receiving). 

Took the dryer apart and replaced the pulley. Worked like a charm. 

I followed the on-line video, except for the electrical connection -- it was quite different, but pretty obvious how to get the power cord detached in order to remove the back cover. As someone else noted, the hardest part was moving the dryer away from the wall...and back again! I'd say the only "tricky" part was getting the back cover realigned when putting it back on. The replacement pulley was slightly narrower than the original part, and the side ridges a little taller, but all the essential diameters appeared to be the same, so I used it. And....now I have a quiet dryer again! Thank you!! 

I watched the video it was very helpful. The repair took about 30mins 

Ordered the part, watched the video, installed the part. 

Replaced idler pulley with a new one. 

Replaced the belt pulley, based on an easy to follow video on this website. It was really easy. 

We watched video on YouTube then took it apart. While apart we replaced 4 rubber wheels, pulley wheel, and lubed them. The replaced the belt as well (figured while it was apart it made sense to do it all) vacuumed it all out, cleaned it up, put it back together and no more screech! 

Installed a new belt pulley. 

Took the dryer apart and removed the broken pulley. I ordered a new one it came the next day. I put the dryer back together but while I had it apart I changed the belt and the idler pully. Truly the hardest thing was remembering how to get the belt back on... gotta love youtube...
