How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012280 / WP8268937 Dishwasher Air Inlet

Replaced air inlet. Air inlet has a seal that keeps the water from leaking from dishwasher pan. 

Replaced the Air Inlet at the base of the door as per the youtube video. 

Order new part and watched your DIY video and replaced it. 

I replaced the Air Inlet and the Tub Gasket! The dishwasher was older than I thought, and the little screw for the air inlet was corroded and was difficult getting out, plus the holes in the air inlet were off so it took some convincing to get all the screws in properly! 

Removed tiny 3/16 hex head screws- difficult due to some rust and rounding of one hex head, and needing to bend back the very stiff metal tray to access the nuts. I ended up having to gently cut and snap the vent off b/c one screw would not come out. I chose to use 1/4 hex head #6 screws to affix the vent. I tested that they would not penetrate the plastic inlet and was prepared to file the tips in case. Another problem came with aligning the inlet's holes and holding it in place while attempting the re-attachment. Painter's tape was a good tip as shown in video, but it took some time. Lastly it's always a pain to reattach those custom faces. 

We replaced with new parts 

Ordered parts needed and was assured that the dispenser was the correct one, even though it looked different. Watched website video on repair, and then went to FAQ concerning that new part did not have one of the electrical connections for the rinse liquid part of the dispenser. Assured that the new part did not require the old connection. Parts fit perfectly, and repair was quick and easy, just like the video.
