I'm trying to replace a damaged air inlet to stop leaking. Are there any tricks to remove the outer door? My model has styrofoam glued to the outer door. I got the outer door pulled away from the foam which is now still firmly attached to the inner door but there is a lip on the bottom of the outer door that wraps over the foam so when I pull up to be able to clear the grooves the door sets in the foam prevents it from moving up the inch needed to clear the grooves. I see other comments that say it takes force (which worked for pulling away from the foam) but haven't found how to address this problem. Thanks for your help.

Susan, the top of the panel would need to be pulled forward while trying to lift it up so that the top can clear the facia, allowing the front panel to clear the mounting tabs at the bottom.

My dish washer is leaking from the corners. I wonder if this could be an issue with the AP6012280 Air Inlet or AP6327300 Gasket. I noticed that the Gasket is slightly chewed at both ends of the gasket as the excess of the Gasket seems to be pushed down by the air inlet every time the door is closed. So my question is, which could be the likely issue? if the gasket has excess at each end, are the excess supposed to cut off or are they supposed to be pressed down by the air inlet? Thanks

1 Answer

Rubbertoe, The gasket will have excess that is pushed down by the air inlet. For this issue look for a gasket on the bottom of the door and this would be the most likely cause for the leaking. The air inlet on this model will have the gasket on it and would be part number WP8268937.

My dishwasher spills water out over the front of the bottom pan at the beginning of the cycle. I put a gopro in there to watch the cycle start. I observed that after the water has filled and the pump begins, it sucks the water down and then there is a surge, which is what is causing the water to spill over the front. I have replaced the door seal. I have checked the float and the water shut off valve and they are both working properly. I have checked the spray wands for cracks or clogged ports and found none. The dishwasher isn’t over filling and has the proper amount of water in it. This surge of water only happens at the initial startup and doesn’t happen any other time during the wash cycle. My thought is that the plastic air inlet (part number AP6012280) relaxes after the initial fill of warm water and makes a stronger seal and I are thinking about replacing this part. Has anyone else had this problem? Or any idea how to fix this problem?

1 Answer

Ray, The water sucking down would be normal as the pump starts and will want to check to make sure that there are no initial obstructions in the pump assembly. If this checks ok then the air inlet may be causing the issue.

Tom, Yes the air inlet will have the lower seal on it and would be the part needed to replace.

Fox trot, First remove and check the lower spray arm, hub and bearing. Make sure there aren't any cracks in the spray arm seams, or debris in the venturi holes, check to make sure the hub and bearing aren't worn excessively or damaged. Any of these possibilities would direct the water at the bottom of the door and cause it to leak. Then check and make sure the dishwasher is level and secured to the cabinet properly and all four feet are setting on the floor solidly. Then remove the door front panel and check the air vent WP8268937 to make sure it isn't cracked or damaged.

Water is pouring from the bottom right to middle of the door while in operation, What is odd is the water appears to be coming from the door itself. The door insulation is wet and when the door is returned to the closed position, water pours from the bottom of the door down the sheet metal face. The arms are metal, clear of clogs and no cracks. I just replaced the Air Vent at the bottom of the door hoping to correct the problem, but it did not. The seal for the door appear to be in good shape but it is the original. Any ideas why or should I just re-designate it to the category of future fish habitat.

1 Answer

Carl, You will want to check the gasket around the dispenser assembly that could be leaking and causing this issue. It would be the most likely cause for the leaking.

Justin, No, there is not a gasket under the air inlet. If water is getting into the door panel you'll need to make sure the dishwasher is level in both directions, The dishwasher isn't over filling and then check the lower spray arm for debris and split seams, and the water tube and hub for excess wear, water can be redirected at the bottom of the door and leak along the door.
