How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6015450 / WPW10130695 Door Latch Handle (Blk)

These particular Maytag dishwashers have weak poorly made latch handles; cheap plastic. This is our third latch in 5 years. This part is the way to go because the whole assembly is ready to replace the old one. Take the door cover screws off and the latch assembly is accessible. Unplug the two wire harness connectors and attach them to the new assembly in the same place. Install the latch assembly in position and install the door cover screws and you are good to go for a couple more years. Oh yeah, you will need a T-15 Torx driver for the doors screws. 

Unbolted the inside door panel, unplugged the broken latch and replaced it with the part re-bolted the panel . need a star bit for the door screws 

Took 5 minutes. Turn off circuit breaker to Dishwasher - Open Dishwasher - Unscrew all perimeter Screws (need a star bit for these) - Separate Front Dishwasher Panel to access latch - Remove two wires (pull) from old latch and put wires on (push) new latch in same place - Reposition new latch over 2 screw holes and push Front Dishwasher Panel together and replace screws that were removed - Turn back on breaker to Dishwasher 

After some searching online, I felt that the control board was the problem. It did not have any visible damage, but after replacing it, the dishwasher ran perfectly. I also took the opportunity to replace the broken latch/handle. I am very happy with the service and delivery of my order. 

Ordered the part online. Part arrived promptly. To open the dishwasher had to grab both sides and twist the door, then it opened. Make sure power is off to dishwasher. Remove the star drive door perimeter screws. Disconnect the two door electrical switches Remove door handle assembly. Put back together in reverse order. Eazy-Peazy- Took 15 minutes tops! 

My husband and I were arguing about which part would fix our dishwasher. The part was on our doorstep in a couple of days and fixing it just required turning the breaker off, loosening a few screws, and switching the handle. 

After taking apart the front door and seeing this was a simple latch assembly I check web sites and ordered part. To my surprise, I received the part next day. Connected new latch and works fine. 

Replaced the assembly/part 

First shut off the power. It takes a star pattern screwdriver to remove the screws. Lift the inner door liner off and the door latch is exposed. I found the easiest way to remove the electrical connectors was to pry loose with a flat blade screwdriver. Replace the latch, and attach the connectors. Replace the inner door liner and reattach with the screws. Turn the power back on and you are done. Very easy. The parts fit perfectly! So glad these are still available as my dishwasher is 11 years old. 

I watched ApplianceParts Pros video on YouTube illustrating replacement, and followed steps on my own unit. My repair went exactly like video. Dishwasher started up perfectly after handle replacement.
