How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3138838 / 285811 Medium Cam Agitator Repair Kit

Purchased a agitator repair kit. 

I troubleshooted by reading other customer stories, put in the model number, ordered the parts, watched the installation video and completed the project. This is the third time I’ve used Appliance Parts Pros and I highly recommend them. They make the project easy for the DIY’er. 

Replaced upper agitator dogs 

Googled what was wrong and found video from Appliance Parts Pros of 5 things that may be wrong. The coupler going bad sounded like what was going on, we took the washer apart and found the coupler in bits. We started taking more apart and also found that the cam agitator was in pieces. Ordered both parts from appliancepartspros.com, got the coupler first, replaced it and the washer now agitates! The first few uses smelled like burning rubber and squeaked a bit. But now no smell or squeak since the part settled in. Just wanna say we bought a whirlpool washer and dryer set used 10 years ago and washer just now gave out. This website saved us a ton of money without having to buy a new washer. I prefer older models anyway so hopefully replacing these parts will give us another 10 years or more. 

Replaced the agitator dogs. Used a socket wrench and one pair of needle nosed pliers. Since I no longer have my own Google source of calling on my Dad to come fix anything, I watched your video and made this repair in about 20 minutes. Did I mention I was a young woman of 54 years old? Thankful I got the parts quickly and that your video was my partner. Dawn S. 

Replaced clutch inside and works beautiful. 

Replaced the agitator and installed the washer dog kit, all the parts provided were and exact fit. 

Ordered the parts, got them 3 days later, put in the replacement parts according to the DIY video. Now it works and is even quieter than before. Great video, I recommend it. 

Followed easy video on how to repair a washing machine. The repair was extremely easy. 

Replaced all the parts with what came in the repair kit.
