How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3138838 / 285811 Medium Cam Agitator Repair Kit

I replaced the clutch assembly and while I was at it, I ordered an agitator repair kit as my dust cap seal and bolt washer were worn out, and you can't have too many dog ears on hand. 

Medium cam agitator repair kit, had all the parts I needed. Video was helpful for orientation of plastic dogs. Easy five minute fix. Thank you!

Replacing the cam on our 15 year old washer was super easy using the video on the product page. The difficult part was removing and replacing the agitator bolt, because the head had rusted off. That definitely made an easy fix astronomically more difficult - my partner had to weld a nut onto the head of the bolt to finally get it unscrewed. But now the washer works like the day we bought it! 

Easy repair, pull off agitator cap with hands, socket with extension to remove bolt, grab upper agitator with hands and pull up. Take picture of "dogs" as they are in the agitator, remove parts and replace. Easy. 

I ordered the agitator repair kit ,It can with everything I needed.my top screen was hard to get ,I put on soap and water let soak a while then came off,also put soap on big o ring for easier install.just watch video easy

I replaced it with this cam agitator kit and it took about 15 minutes to do. The guard to hold the dog agitators in place while putting it all together was so helpful. Although I did not receive instructions how to do this, I took it all apart first a few days before to see how it all went together. This made the repair much easier when the parts arrived.
