How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5985114 / W10822606 Auger Drive Motor

Replaced motor and the new updated seal. Drive shaft was also rusted into motor drive. Had a chore getting it out of old motor. 

Bought new motor from AppliancePartsPros.com and replaced the old motor. Video was helpful to know what the repair entailed. 

Replaced with auger drive motor. However, when removing old motor should be noted you may have to position it around the wiring to get it out. 

I went ahead and ordered all new auger system parts. Motor w/moisture seal Auger shaft Sealing washer Now the ice system works great! As a matter of fact, better than ever. Thanks, Mark C

Had ice in the bin but not being dispensed thru the door on the outside of the frig. Removed the ice bucket from the door and then the panel under it. Figured that the auger was not working and ordered a new Whirlpool part using the old part number printed on the part. Even though it is a Kitchen Aid frig it required a Whirlpool part. Received the part in two days and it was an easy replacement with just a 1/4-inch socket and a Philips screwdriver. Really happy with the prompt delivery of the part. 

I watched a YouTube video about the problem I was having and ordered a replacment auger motor. The repair video on your website was very helpful. I got it changed out in about 20 minutes.

Replaced the auger drive motor. Between the website and YouTube, this was quick. Remove four screws (mine were square drive) and ice chute, then four 1/4 inch screws. The power plug is on the bottom of the motor. Only goes on one way, so no worries about that. However, the drive shaft is off-center so make sure it's in the proper position for installation. Otherwise, when you find that the ice chute doesn't fit, you have to remove the four screws to reposition the motor. The voice of experience here. You also may have to lock and unlock the keypad to enable the motor drive.
