How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP2934763 / 786324 Oven Igniter

Replaced the igniter. Works like a champ now. 

After doing a little research online about ovens, I decided that my igniter had gone bad. I ordered the part online, and it arrived two days later. Luckily, that was the problem, and now my oven heats to 400 in around 8 minutes. Prior to the repair it took closer to an hour or not at all. 

Followed a YouTube video ... quite simple ... replacement arrived from ApliancePartsPro in no time 

Replace the flat igniter in Baking Compartment after checking the Broil igniter above. 

REPLACED THE IGNITER. I'VE HAD THE OVEN FOR 30 YEARS AND HAD TO REPLACE THE IGNITER ABOUT ONCE EVERY 6 YEARS ON AVERAGE. THEY DON'T LAST BECAUSE THEY DRAW CURRENT AND GLOW ALL WHILE THE BURNER IS LIT AND BAKING IS GOING ON. THEY ARE ALSO IN THE FLAME OF THE BURNER WHICH CUTS THE LIFE OF THE IGNITER. EVEN THOUGH THE IGNITER GLOWS AND THE BURNER WON'T LITE IT CAN BE NO GOOD. GO ON-LINE AND SEE WHAT VOLTAGE YOU SHOULD LOOK FOR WITH A VOLT/OHM METER. ALWAYS KILL POWER TO THE OVEN BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY REPAIR TO THE IGNITER AS THERE IS 120 VOLTS AT THE IGNITER. ALSO ONLY USE CERAMIC OR PORCELAIN WIRE NUTS TO CONNECT THE WIRES, PLASTIC ONES WILL MELT AND CAUSE A SHORT CIRCUIT. 

Due to the age of the stove, I was unsure if we had a valve problem or an igniter problem. The old igniter came on but looked a bit dim. Ordered the new igniter, had it in two days and I installed it Thanksgiving morning in about 17 minutes. Piece of cake. The video was right on the money (I removed the oven door, pull straight up, so I didn't have to strain to get into the back of the oven). Never even had to pull the stove out from the wall. Did remove the bottom drawer in order to have access above and below. Used the existing shield (slip the igniter out and in) and wire nuts--no wire nuts provided with the new igniter. Works perfectly. 

I went to website read other people with same problem and replaced igniter, I would recommend to anyone when replacing the igniter order a pack or 2 if you can of ceramic wire nuts,one of mine fell off inside insulation in back of oven. Very hard to find around lots of time wasted chasing down like a .58 cent part, when my part arrived quickly. 

I bought 1 from you...great sales people and speedy delivery. I watched an inztall video and job looked easy. It wasnt. Had to take apart stov e to get to connector because back of stove is sealed. All took about 1 hour but a job well done. IT WORKS! 

I just replaced the old oven igniter with the new one and used the old bracket that was there. 

First home run I used this company I received parts fast and they were great. as I removed part I put new part in at same time replacing all wires and nuts as I in stalled and removed now I have a old stove that works like new for 180 .00 and 60 minutes of my time great savings
