How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008357 / WP3398094 Start Switch

Two screws remove the top. Unplug the wires to the old relay, give it a quarter turn and it's out. A five minute procedure. What took five hours was replacing the dryer duct work that I discovered was mostly crushed on its way from the laundry room, through a couple of walls to the exterior. 

Dummy me rather than watch all videos. I ordered the relay switch which was not the problem. Then I watched the video on how to check the thermal fuse. Problem solved!!! Still going to replace the heat sensors. 

I replaced the start switch because it's contacts were welded shut. 

After looking up how to fix the problems that I was facing with my dryer, I found AppliancePartsPros.com. The parts arrived in two days, I replaced both parts in less than 30 min using the instructions from the videos, cleaned out my vent tube, and my dryer works like it was brand new again. I decided to check on possible problematic dryer history on site, through prior experience with Appliance Parts Pro's. Checked prices on few parts to be exact, looked good, so I bought two items what I thought was wrong with my mothers dryer? Double checked with ohm meter concerning part(s) and low and behold they were defective, I've never seen my mothers reaction so happy after her dryer started right up, she had been a week and half without it, and she did not want to buy a new one. Oh this dryer was built like a tank, about 15 years old or less, my guess? We figured after realizing that it was rare event that two parts go at the same time, it was due to power outage that caused the whole issue. Some high winds knock down trees into some lines, advised mother to purchase a surge suppressor for her home? One Happy Mom!!! 

Initially I thought it was the starter switch, but also checked out other stories. Other possible reason from the stories for dryer was not working was Dryer Door Switch broken. So I ordered both parts. When I went to visit the rental it was obvious the Dryer Door Switch was broken. I had my iPad with me, went to the website watched to video and voila, it was done 20 mins! Saved me $500 I was thinking I would have to shell out for a new dryer. Thank you Appliance Parts Pro!!

After testing thermal fuse, checked continuity on push to start switch and found the issue. Part arrived in 2 business days as expected and installation was simple. Problem is resolved.
