How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6285451 / W11168758 Water Reservoir

Replaced the water reservoir. Was leaking from fitting that connects to the water filter assembly. 

This bladder is located above the lights in the top of this fridge. The OEM part was cracked at would spray out at a joint when someone used the water on the front of fridge. I purchased and installed this part. 

Shut off the water supply and power to the unit. I removed perishables to give myself room to work. I removed 2, 1/4" screws by the water filter and carefully pried off the the top right cover near the water filter using a putty knife to expose the wiring and water lines. I used a 1/2 wrench to depress the water line value to remove the supply lines (I used blue tape to remember/code how to put them back on) from the reservoir and the water filter housing. I cut the nylon ties securing the reservoir to the cover to remove the reservoir. It is a bit bulky because it is full of water. Be patient and careful and give yourself and 1 hour plus in time. 

I replaced the filter housing and the tank supply. A bit difficult but not terrible. 

Removed and replaced the water reservoir. Let customer know that the reservoir is different from the original. 

I removed the panel from the top interior cover of the refrigerator compartment. I observed water dripping from the left side of the filter housing to the water reservoir - but only when water was being dispensed. I assumed that it was a bad O-ring on the filter compartment housing. WRONG - after replacing the housing it still leaked. A closer inspection revealed an almost imperceptible crack in the top of the water reservoir fitting which plugs into the filter housing. I installed a new water reservoir which corrected the problem. FYI: the old water reservoir had two connected bladders, but the new one was just one piece & smaller however, it works just fine. It has now been a week with no leaks observed. 

I replaced the reservoir in the ceiling. It was a different shape than the reservoir that was in previously but it still fit. Then, it didn't leak anymore. The pipe at the end of the reservoir was cracked.

I replaced the water reservoir which was cracked and the source of the water leak. I could not have fixed the problem without receiving critical info about a reservoir redesign made by the manufacturer which was given to me by your very knowledgeable and helpful employee. ...Thanks Gaye! 

Replaced the housing and reservoir! Big kudos to the customer service rep that helped me. She sent all necessary instructions on how to change.
