How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5959412 / W10772621 Washplate Bolt

Replaced agitator and wash plate.

Using your trouble-shooting aid, I found the bolt and washer under the fabric softner dispenser were loose and the rubber washer worn excessively. Ordered replacements and installed them. But, after running the machine found the bolt and washer loose again. Discovered that the spline inside the agitator and on the drive shaft were corroded and eroded and slipping. Opting to replace the washer versus replacing the drive assy. and agitator in spite of the fact the washer is only 3 years old.. 

Replaced wash plate. This was somewhat of a difficult fix. The bolt that held the wash plate in place twisted off when I tried to remove it. Made small 1/8" bend in end of metal coat hangers to hook into holes of old wash plate to allow it to be pulled off. Had to drill out broken bolt from agitator shaft and re tap threads. Wire brushed splines of shaft to be able to slide new wash plate into place. *NOTE* that this would not have been as difficult had the bolt not twisted off. (maybe an impact driver would have freed it without breaking it off). 

Replaced the agitator with a new one at a 20% savings compared to Whirlpools price,was a easy fix replacing it not something someone should hire a repair person to do,7/16th bolt comes out real easy,remove old agitator flip upside down and pop out existing stainless steel backing plate and attach it to the new one install new agitator insert Bolt and tighten down until nice and snug not a big deal.Great prices here and speed of shipping was great,just in time for laundry.. 

Replaced the Agitator 

Ordered the part from your website. Pricing was by far the best. Replaced it myself. Easy and my washer is back in operation. I highly recommend appliance part pros for your parts needs. 

I replaced the washplate, wash bolt and washer. 

Removed old bolt and agitator and replaced with new ones. 

The washer base plate was replaced by a reputable repair service. the bolt that was included was3/4" too long. The repair service re-ordered and sent the parts to me directly. The replacement they sent was also to long, in fact it was the wrong bolt all together. I looked up the model and part on the AppliancePartsPro.com website, found the correct bolt,ordered it on a Monday and had it the next day. (A local supplier told me it would take2-3 weeks to get the part). I installed the new bolt replaced the cover cap and all is well again with the washer.
