How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6977160 / W11404293 Screw

I ordered a new replacement lid from AppliancePartsPros.com. Ordered it at 2 pm and had it by 10 am the next morning. It was exactly like the original lid. Took me all the way of 10 minutes to replace it. I'm sure I saved at least $400.00 by doing this myself thanks to AppliancePartsPros.com. There were only 4 screws holding the lid onto the washer base. The appliance dealer where I bought it wanted $95.00 just to come look at it. I'm glad I decided to research it on my own. 

Be sure to buy all the parts for both sides. I replaced the lid and the left side hardware earlier this year and 6 months later the other side seized, cracking my new lid. This time I replaced all the hardware on both sides. I hope to get another 5 years out of this machine. 

Replaced the Lid and the 4 screws. 

With the right tools it was very easy to do! Make sure you order the screws, that made it very easy. 

I took the side screws out. Put the 2 new hinges in and slid the cover on and tightened the 4 screws and I was done 10 minutes later.
