How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008044 / WP3349985 Cover Seal

I had to replace the drive shaft and the lower agitator. The motor coupling was also worn out. The repair was challenging because I had to rebuild the gear box. This step was really messy and I had to wait for the liquid gasket to set prior to completing the repair. Cleaning and prep of all of the parts tripled the repair time.

I had the whole washing machine apart and went through it all before ordering parts. Tear down and assembly was easy. I just took my time. The washer is 17 years old and was well built. It was worth it compared to what is on the market today, and cheaper.
